Koichi Matsumoto (Born in 1967) Matsumoto was brought up in Shizuoka, Japan. After graduating from vocational school, he had worked as a car mechanic, repairing supercars and classic cars and later entered the career of selling used automobiles. However, his passion to create something new grew exponentially over the years. He finally left his job at the age of 34. With a personal saving of 10 million yen, he began to develop his own products. Among all ideas that he came up with, he ultimately opted for revolutionizing the adult novelty industry. After three years of trial and error and right before his savings ran out, he managed to establish TENGA Inc., in March 2005. On July 7th of that same year, all his effort and hard work paid off with the launch of the original 5 “TENGA” CUPs. The series was an enormous success, selling over 1 million units in its first year alone. |
